2008 News Roundup

Visit to Nepal

In April 2008, our chairperson Jan Revell went out to Aruchour again. This time she took with her Pete Bird, a photographer. Pete, seen below being greeted and honoured by the children at Sarbodoya School, is a supporter of Tilden Project Nepal and wanted to help us achieve a wide range of photographs of the work we are doing in Nepal.
We are very grateful to him and many of the new photographs on the website were taken by him this year, further examples of his work are on his own website at www.highkeyimage.co.uk

These photos enabled us to produce a 2009 calendar to raise funds for our work programme.

Goats for families in need

This year we are about to branch out a little by providing goats to families who are exceptionally poor.

There are many families without any employment, they usually have a little land so they can grow their own food, but no money coming in. To purchase a goat costs £20; with a goat they are able to produce a range of milk, yoghurt, cheese etc and this enables them to improve their standard of living.

The committee in Aruchour are currently exploring ways of introducing a viable scheme.
