Top of the World 2009

In June 2009, Lesley and David Jebson hosted a 2 day event for Tilden Project Nepal at their home in Rempstone, near Loughborough. Trustee Anthony Revell designed and built a range of garden sculpture exhibits which were displayed throughout their garden, orchard and adjoining field.

We had Nepalese crafts, plants and homemade jam on sale. There were ploughman’s lunches, hot dogs, homemade cakes etc. on sale in the refreshment area and, of course, a raffle. Amongst a range of prizes, one lucky winner took home a piece of garden sculpture, another won a weekend in Filey.

We are grateful to the many people who turned out to see the show and also to those who came to help. There are not sufficient words to convey our gratitude to David and Lesley who worked tirelessly to put on this fundraiser for us. Thanks to their efforts we raised £2,500 for our work in Aruchour.

Jazz Concert by Djangology – Loughborough November 2008

Our major fundraising event for 2008 was a Top Of The World Jazz Concert.

In November 2008, Djangology captured the attention and enthusiasm of a large audience at Trinity Methodist Church, Loughborough with a stunning programme of jazz inspired by the Quintette of the Hot Club of Paris. Richard Smith also gave us some inspired classical solos. It was a wet, stormy night outside but every member of the audience must have been glad they make the effort to turn out – none of us wanted the music to stop. It was a truly memorable evening. We launched our new calendar for 2009, introduced our range of greetings cards and raised £1600 for the work in Aruchour.

We are grateful to Trinity Church for providing the venue, for the Church members who came along to provide technical support and serve refreshments – and, of course, a huge thanks to Djangology.
